I have worked with an array of businesses in my time as a marketing agent, that being said, I've heard quite a few things repeated - email marketing is dead, they don't have "time" to figure it out, or they cannot commit to sending emails consistently. Well... luckily for them (and you), there are so many resources that help eliminate these issues.
I'm going to let you in on a little secret: email marketing is most certainly not dead. It, in fact, has a direct effect on increasing your sales & gaining more engagement with your business. I can bet that you already checked your email today (intentionally or not). Want to know another little secret? There are programs that are created specifically with these concerns in mind. My personal favorite: Flodesk.
The most important aspect of email marketing is bringing the value of your business directly to the consumer. Emails are great for promotions, business updates, getting feedback, etc. The great thing about using a program like Flodesk is that you always have access to your analytics & you can adjust your plan accordingly. Now, let's dive into how to get this all started...

5 STEPS TO STARTING YOUR EMAIL MARKETING JOURNEY
(with Flodesk)
Step 1: Build Your Email List
This may seem a little awkward at first, but there are so many creative ways to building an email list. Here are a few examples:

Hosting an event
Raffles
Giveaways
Landing pages
Website pop-ups
When I was first starting my email list, I was attending a business event as a vendor. It took a couple tries to get the hang of it, but after a few minute of conversation I would mention joining my email list & in return they would receive a free gift bag. At the second event I attended, I then had a sign-up sheet for a giveaway: name, business name, phone # & email. The more you put yourself out there and be creative with your methods, it gets a lot easier to grow your email list. I started out with 5 emails on my list for months - I now have over 300 subscribers. It's possible babe, you've got this.
Step 2: Upload your email list to Flodesk
Once you get your email list started (even if it's only 1 subscriber), you'll want to add all their information to an excel sheet. Usually, I would ask for first & last name, email, phone number and business name. You can create your list however you'd like depending on what information you need from your customers.
I am a Google Sheets lover, but you may use whatever spreadsheet program you'd like! Flodesk makes it so easy to upload your email list - here's how:
Download your list from the spreadsheet as a .csv file
Go to your Flodesk dashboard & select "Add Subscriber"
Select "Upload CSV"
Click to search for the CSV file & upload
Choose or create a field for each corresponding column
You're all set - Flodesk does the rest & sends an email when it's ready!
Step 3: Get creative 🎨
I think that this might be my favorite part... creating. Whether you like to design the emails yourself, or you prefer to use a premade template, Flodesk has an array of options for any business! Private chef? You got it. Fitness instructor? Absolutely. Tattoo artist? Yep!
Tap into your creative side... my biggest piece of advice is to keep it consistent throughout your emails. I like to create a branding deck for myself so I can keep the colors, fonts, images, etc. all the same throughout my posting & content I share with my audience. The easiest way to do this is through (my second home) Canva. They have an option to create a brand with your logo, font, colors, etc. Flodesk allows you to upload your logo & business content & automatically adds your logo to the top of every email... LOVE.
Now this is where you need to keep in mind that emails are another way to generate income.💰How can you get your audience to visit your website? Book a session? Buy your product? Use your resources to your advantage! Flodesk allows you to insert product links, external links, etc. all to help you sell! It's not just an email marketing program... it's an extremely necessary business tool.
Step 4: Create a realistic schedule 📆
Key word "REALISTIC" - email marketing is significantly more effective when there is consistency with your sending. It's extremely similar to social media; if you go on a posting binge for 3 weeks & then disappear for the next 6 months, your audience isn't consistently seeing your content and it won't be as effective as it could be.
There is a sweet spot with email consistency: 2-4 emails per month. Now, if you have an event going on, or limited time deals that may require more than 2-4 emails per month, than by all means send more!
As a business owner who is in her early 20's & works a full time job, I created an efficient & sustainable system that works really well with my busy schedule. If you're my client, you know my love for batching - content batching, email batching, blog batching. Please feel free to use this exact system or tweak it to fit with your schedule <3
I pick 1 day a month to dedicate to designing & writing emails. With Flodesks incredible templates, I can choose a template that I love & all I need to do is edit it to fit my business and type out the content of my email. Flodesk also allows you to input your branding, so your emails will be consistent with each other!
I batch about 1-2 months worth of emails at a time. Keep in mind any upcoming deals, holidays, milestones, etc.
Flodesk allows you to create & schedule emails in advance with their super simple scheduling system.
Create. Choose your audience. Schedule the date & time. You're done...
...until next month!
Since I am an insanely overly organized freak, I LOVE their folder feature where you can organize your emails by month, content, or whatever else you'd like!
Step 5: Flourish ⭐️
You've now unlocked the hidden potential needed to increase your sales. Make it work for you, babe. Whether you're a service based business or you sell products, email marketing can directly help increase your business' revenue. Stay consistent & make a commitment to yourself and your business. Write it down in your reminders on your phone. Add it to your to-do list on your fridge. Take that orange marker and write it down on your white board calendar. You've got this! Can't wait to see your emails 😁
...oh & by the way... here's 50% off your first year! ❤️
